Part One
The Lost Method Of Prayer
Introduction
Biblical Studies and Research revealed that “Modern Christianity” has largely taught prayer as communication directed toward a distant God — a God believed to exist outside the human being, separated from man by space, time, and unworthiness. Believers were taught to ask, plead, hope, wait, and accept silence as either “God’s will” or evidence of insufficient faith.
Yet when one carefully studies the life of Yeshua (Jesus), a very different pattern emerges. Before miracles, before healings, before manifestations of divine power, Yeshua repeatedly withdrew into solitude, silence, stillness, and inward communion. The Gospel records reveal that something happened before He spoke words of authority.
The miracle was never the beginning.
The miracle was the manifestation of an interior alignment already completed within Him.
This teaching seeks to recover the method hidden in plain sight throughout the Gospel accounts.
The Pattern Before The Miracle
Notice the sequence repeated throughout the Gospels:
- Withdrawal from the crowd
- Solitude
- Silence
- Interior communion
- Then power
Before raising Lazarus, Yeshua prayed.
Before walking on water, He ascended the mountain alone.
Before choosing the twelve disciples, He spent the night in prayer.
Before the transfiguration, He withdrew into stillness.
Before many healings, He became inwardly aware before speaking outwardly.
This pattern is not accidental.
It is a method.
The Prayer Before Lazarus
John 11:41–42
KJV
“Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always…”
NKJV
“Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me…”
Notice carefully:
Yeshua did not ask the Father to raise Lazarus.
He did not plead.
He did not beg.
He did not negotiate.
He spoke in certainty.
Even more astonishing:
He spoke in the past tense.
“I thank You that You have heard Me.”
The miracle had not yet appeared outwardly, yet inwardly it was already complete.
This was not prayer as request.
This was prayer as alignment.
The Inner Room
Matthew 6:6
KJV
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret…”
NKJV
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place…”
Most interpretations reduce this teaching to privacy.
Yet the deeper meaning lies hidden in the language itself.
The Greek Word — “Tameion”
The Greek word translated “closet” or “room” is:
ταμεῖον (Tameion)
Meaning:
- Inner chamber
- Hidden room
- Treasury
- Secret storage place
- Interior sanctuary
This word does not primarily describe a bedroom.
It describes a hidden interior place.
The Aramaic Understanding
The Aramaic concept behind the teaching points toward the hidden inner dwelling place of communion.
One important Aramaic expression connected to the idea of an inner chamber is:
Tawānā
Meaning:
- Inner dwelling
- Hidden chamber
- Interior sanctuary
- Secret place within
Another related Aramaic concept is:
Gawā
Meaning:
- The inner part
- The within
- Interior reality
Yeshua was not merely instructing people to go into a physical room.
He was revealing entry into the hidden inner sanctuary of consciousness where the presence of the Father is realized.
“The Father Who Is In Secret”
Yeshua said:

“Pray to thy Father which is in secret…”
NKJV
“Pray to your Father who is in the secret place…”
The Father was not described as distant.
The Father was described as hidden.
Hidden where?
Within the inner chamber.
The Kingdom Within
Luke 17:21
KJV
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
NKJV
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
The Kingdom was never presented as geographically distant.
The Kingdom was inward.
This changes the entire understanding of prayer.
Prayer was never primarily about persuading God to act.
Prayer was about entering alignment with the Presence already within.
The Loss Of The Method
Over centuries, Christianity became increasingly institutionalized.
Contemplative practice slowly gave way to ritualized religion.
The words of Yeshua remained in the text, but the method faded from common teaching.
What remained were:
- Memorized prayers
- External rituals
- Religious performance
Yet the actual entering of the inner chamber became rare.
The Church preserved the language but often lost the practice.
The Silence Before Power
Every miracle followed the same hidden sequence:
- Withdrawal
- Silence
- Alignment
- Authority
- Manifestation
Before healing the woman with the issue of blood, Yeshua felt power move through Him.
Luke 8:46
KJV
“Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.”
NKJV
“Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”
The power was already flowing because He remained in continual alignment with the Father within.
The Father Dwelling Within
John 14:10
KJV
“The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”
NKJV
“The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.”
Notice carefully:
Yeshua did not say:
- “The Father helps me.”
- “The Father occasionally visits me.”
- “The Father is far away.”
He said:
“The Father who dwells in Me.”
The works flowed through union.
Part Two
Entering The Inner Room
The Foundation Of True Prayer
Prayer, according to the example of Yeshua, was not merely verbal communication.
It was entry into a state of union.
Modern prayer often begins with words.
Yeshua’s prayer often began with silence.
The Method Of Stillness
To enter the inner room:
- Sit in stillness
- Withdraw from distraction
- Become aware of the breath
- Release mental noise
- Let thoughts settle
- Become inwardly attentive
Not forcing.
Not striving.
Not performing.
Simply becoming aware of the Presence beneath thought.
“Be Still”
Psalm 46:10
KJV
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
NKJV
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness was never emptiness.
Stillness was recognition.
Closing The Door
Yeshua said:

“Shut thy door.”
NKJV
“Shut your door.”
The “door” symbolizes the shutting out of:
- Fear
- Anxiety
- External distraction
- Mental noise
- Egoic identity
- Separation-consciousness
The closing of the door is inward withdrawal from fragmentation into unity.
Alignment Rather Than Pleading
Prayer in the model of Yeshua is not primarily:
- Begging
- Persuading
- Convincing
- Bargaining
It is alignment.
When alignment occurs, one no longer speaks from lack.
One speaks from union.
“The Father And I Are One”
John 10:30
KJV
“I and my Father are one.”
NKJV
“I and My Father are one.”
This statement was not merely theological.
It described experiential union.
The dissolving of separation.
The realization that divine life flows through the awakened human being.
The Shift From Asking To Knowing
At Lazarus’ tomb, Yeshua did not hope.
He knew.
Why?
Because inwardly the work was already complete.
The invisible preceded the visible.
The Kingdom As A State Of Being
The Kingdom of Heaven is not merely future.
It is a present reality entered through awakened communion.
Yeshua revealed:
- The Kingdom within
- The Father within
- The hidden chamber within
- The silence within
The Wilderness
Why did Yeshua spend forty days in the wilderness?
Not merely for testing.
But for purification of consciousness.
Withdrawal from worldly identity.
Alignment with the Father.
The Desert Fathers And Contemplative Tradition
Early contemplative believers understood aspects of this hidden practice.
The Desert Fathers sought:
- Silence
- Stillness
- Interior prayer
- Continual remembrance of God
This tradition survived in fragments through contemplative Christianity, though often separated from mainstream teaching.
The Inner Room Is Entered Through Practice
This is not intellectual theory.
It requires:
- Stillness
- Patience
- Continual inward return
- Silence
- Observation
- Surrender of mental noise
The inner room opens gradually.
The Difference Between Thinking About God And Entering God’s Presence
Many think about God constantly.
Few enter the stillness where Presence is directly realized.
Thinking is not communion.
Mental activity is not union.
The inner room exists beneath thought.
The Real Meaning Of Prayer
Prayer becomes transformed when separation dissolves.
Then prayer is no longer:
“God, please hear me.”
Instead it becomes:
“The Father within already knows.”
This is why Yeshua spoke with authority.
The True Miracle
The greatest miracle is not merely healing the sick.
The greatest miracle is awakening from separation.
For once separation dissolves:
- Fear weakens
- Clarity increases
- Peace deepens
- Compassion flows
- Divine life expresses itself naturally

The instruction was always in the text.
The method was hidden in plain sight.
Yeshua taught humanity to enter the inner chamber:

The hidden sanctuary within
There the Father is found.
Not distant.
Not absent.
Not separated.
But present.
The Kingdom of Heaven is within.
And prayer, according to the example of Yeshua, was the doorway into conscious union with the divine Presence already dwelling within man.
